- All our translators translate only into their mother tongue.
- They have to have a minimum of 2 or 3 years as a professional translator, either in an agency or as a freelance.
- We also look for an initial qualification in a language, i.e. a Bachelors degree, and then a postgraduate degree or diploma in translation.
- Most of our freelancers will also be members of the Institute of Linguists or Institute of Translation and Interpreting, the two professional bodies in the UK for linguists. To be a member of either organisation, you must sit further exams to demonstrate your ability as a translator.

LONG TERM SAVINGS WITH TRANSLATION MEMORY
For clients who use Adelphi on a regular basis big savings can be made using our translation software and its TM, or Translation Memory. The software builds a database of terms and phrases that once translated, do not have to be translated again. This means that subsequent translations on the same topic can be completed quicker and at a discounted price.
Adelphi Translations is also able to aid in the compilation of glossaries that can be used in conjunction with translation memory tools. The use of glossaries with the TMs results in consistent terminology across projects. This plays an essential role in reducing the costs involved in translating large documents, such as manuals, where correct terminology is of paramount importance.
