Not only do we offer translations for print and web, we also produce translations for video. Our multimedia department is set up to work on a wide range of subtitling formats. We are able to take your original video and recreate a working copy which has multilingual subtitles, either on web video (including Flash movies) or DVD.
As well as producing foreign language subtitles for video, Adelphi Translations have been involved in many projects which required ‘same language captions’, which are basically subtitles intended as an aid to deaf or hard-of-hearing viewers.
We offer foreign language subtitles in any language, including those with exotic scripts and reading right-to-left.
The process we go through is as follows:
Transcription -> Prepare text for subtitle -> Translation -> Input foreign language -> Export Subtitle
We export subtitles to be compatible with your own authoring software. Alternatively we can author the disc and provide you with a working foreign language version of your original CD or DVD. Subtitles can also be 'burned' onto the video when it is not necessary to provide a selection of languages and you wish the subtitles to be permanently visible. This technique is often used for web video clips.
Subtitles in Flash files
It is also possible to produce switchable foreign language subtitles programmatically. In Adobe Flash, for example, subtitles can be created in an XML file, which can then be linked to the Flash movie. An XML file can be created for each language and these can be selected using links in the Flash movie itself.
Adelphi has built good relationships with CD & DVD Duplication companies around Sheffield and has negotiated savings which we can pass on to you. For small runs we can burn a CD or DVD in-house and design and print a label directly onto the disc.
